Evelina's parents surprised the class on Thursday as our Mystery Readers! The students listened to The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. In the story, Duncan just wants to color. When he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: His crayons have had enough! They quit! The class loved hearing from all the different crayons and were laughing throughout the book. Thank you SO much for coming in and sharing this wonderful book!!

The days are shorter, the temperature is dropping, and the leaves have changed color. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by trees with shades of red, yellow, and orange. The class went outside for a fun fall activity that blends science with nature. We went on a leaf scavenger hunt together and see what you can find. The students looked high and low for leaves of all shapes, sizes, and colors.

Our class read the book Leaf Jumpers by Carole Gerber. The book celebrates the beauty of autumn leaves, while explaining why leaves change color. The class learned how to identify all sorts of leaves from red maple to sycamore by their color and shape. We made a class graph to see what's our favorite color leaf is; yellow leaves are the class' favorite color according to our poll taken today in class!
