Elmer the Elephant

Today in class we read Elmer by David McKee. Elmer is a patchwork elephant that wants to be like the other elephants, but comes to find out that they like him just the way he is.  The students discussed Elmer’s similarities and differences when compared with all of the other elephants.
The class got a chance to make and decorate their own elephant! In the book, once a year Elmer's friends have a parade where all the elephants paint themselves and Elmer is the only elephant painted grey. The kids did a great job making their own colorful elephants
