A House for Hermit Crab

Today the class read A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle. In this story, Hermit Crab grows out of one house after another as he searches for the perfect home. Children who change schools or even graduate to a new grade in school will relate to Hermit Crab’s situation as they see that growing up isn’t really so scary after all. After the story the class looked at ocean animals and had to recall what animals made a home on Hermit crabs shell. The class then it took a "field trip" to Mrs. Valdes's classroom to see the fourth grade's pet hermit crab.
